CBD is cannabidiol, one of 123 phytocannabinoid compounds in the hemp cannabis plant of which the cannabinoids CBD and THC are usually present in the highest concentrations. Research indicates that phytocannabinoids, bind to and activate the same receptors of the endogenous cannabinoid system as do the body's endocannabinoids which contribute to health and healing. Cannabinoids are most effective on the endocannabinoid system when available as an entourage rather than as isolated molecules.
To ensure our hemp provides this entourage effect, CBDRx conducts extensive research so that whole plant extractions will yield high ratios of cannibidiol (CBD) and the broadest possible spectrum of the other cannabinoids while containing only trace amounts of THC. CBDRx hemp extractions have been independently tested as safe, potent and pure.
Often overlooked in relation to the more prevalent cannabinoids, terpenes may offer substantial medicinal value as they appear to mediate our body's interactions with cannabinoids, thereby making the cannabinoids more effective. Terpenes are also the main class of aromatic compounds found in hemp, providing flavor and aroma to foods and drinks. They also may play an important role by providing the hemp plant with natural protection from bacteria, fungus, insects and other environmental stresses.
We use several methods for testing our different raw materials and extractions at our in-house, state-of-the-art laboratory. We use test results to indicate cannabinoid levels in each extraction, testing the active and inactive forms of the THC and CBD molecules, which activate and convert to THC and CBD given time and/or heat. These numbers reflect the conversion ratios of CBD and THC levels and content by the time of testing. We also test our CBD/cannabinoid extractions utilizing the 92 data point Medicinal Hemp Association's CBD/cannabinoid product criteria for quality assurance and comparisons with other market leading medicinal hemp productions.
